Mathematics Updates

1.  We have completed the final unit on ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION WITHIN 20.

2.  The Math file (blue) has been returned to pupils for revision. Please file any subsequent marked Math worksheets into the files.

3.  Pupils have completed their SA1 Alternative Assessment last week.

4.  Pupils will be doing Math Test 4 and SA Revision Papers this week to prepare them for SA1.

5.  The following are some general areas of concern for Math:
        i.  confusion between numbers and ordinal numbers - eg. when asked to circle the ninth object, pupils may circle 9 objects instead.
       ii.  confusion between LEFT and RIGHT.  (I'll always encourage pupils to write down LEFT and RIGHT on the diagram when necessary)
      iii.  spelling of numbers from zero to twenty and shapes (rectangle, triangle, circle and square)
      iv.  grouping of tens : 2 tens = 20 ones
                                        20 = 2 tens ( pupils tend to write 20 tens, which is 200!!)
       v.  numbers just before and after - what comes just after 12?  (13)
                                                           - what comes just before 20? (19)
                                                           - what number is between 15 and 17? or 16 is between 15 and ___?

Please note : For Modular CCA (Rope Skipping) on 4 May and 25 May, pupils are to be in their PE attire.
